Research Abstract

広帯域波長多重通信用光ファイバ増幅器材料としてのプラセオジム(Pr)ドープガラスおよび結晶に着目し、光通信用0バンド(波長1.29〜1.33μm)光アンプ材料としての応用可能性について検討した。まず、軽希土類でイオン半径の大きなPrイオンのホストとして、希土類イオンを高濃度で固溶することができ、フォノンエネルギーが低いため、高発光効率が期待できるフッ化物蛍石結晶に着目し、オキシフルオライドナノ結晶析出透明結晶化ガラスの作製を行った。SrF_2-CaF_2固溶体結晶を安定なシリケートガラス中に析出することにより、その配位子場を制御し、光通信用0バンド(波長1.29〜1,33μm)光アンプ材料としての応用可能性について検討した。まずアルカリ土類フッ化物とシリカ、アルミナを含む各種Pr-Yb共ドープオキシフルオライドガラスを溶融反応により作成し、各試料について熱処理を行うことにより、フッ化物ナノ結晶単一相の析出と透明性保持に成功した。得られた各試料の常温における発光スペクトル測定から、結晶析出に伴い、1.3μm帯発光が得られること、その割合はSrF_2含有量が高い組成で高くなることを確認した。さらに低温での1.3μm帯発光スペクトルのStark分裂構造から、Sr/Ca割合に関わらず、いずれもフッ化物固溶体中に固溶したPr^<3+>イオンによるものであることが確認された。Ybの1μm発光の蛍光寿命測定から、Yb→Prエネルギー移動効率とその温度依存性を調べたところ、イオン半径の小さな重希土類Ybは、結晶化後もシリケートガラス相にも多く存在していることがわかった。
