Research Abstract

本研究は、物理的または化学的手法に基づくパノスコピック形態制御技術により、希土類系合金、特定組成を有する金属間化合物、セラミックス、金属とセラミックスとの複合体(サーメット)または有機物とセラミックスとの複合体を作製し、これらの磁性、伝導性、光学物性および反応性を系統的に調べることで、小型または高温仕様モータ用高性能磁石、電波吸収体用磁性粉末、固体電解質、蛍光体、光学ガラスおよび各種触媒などとしての可能性を明らかにすることを目的とした。得られた研究成果は以下のとおりである。
1)Nd-Fe-B系焼結磁石に対し、DyやTb金属の微粒子粉末を合成すると共にこれらを当該磁石片表面に被覆後、加熱により粒界相に拡散させることで、高い磁化と保磁力を併せもつ永久磁石となることを見出した。これまでの 方法では、DyやTbのフッ化物をCaH_2で還元していたが、本方法ではこれらの金属を直接改質に供することが可 能となり、処理後に磁石表面の残渣を除去する必要がなく、より効率的な処理手法と考えられる。
2)アルカリ土類シアナミドを還元性原料として、Si_3N_4、AINまたはEu_2O_3から複合金属窒化物系蛍光体、すなわち、M_2Si_5N_8:Eu^<2+>およびMAISiN_3:Eu^<2+>(M=Ca,Sr)を効率良く合成することに成功した。また、特に金属イリド、窒化物または金属や合金以外からCaAISiN_3:Eu^<2+>を直接合成できた報告例はなく、量産性の点で注目される。
3)Sm^<3+>イオンを含み、かつ固体電解質、すなわち、LiGe_2(PO_4)_3、NaNbO_3などを主成分とするガラスを前駆体として、Ybファイバーレーザを光源に用いてパターンニングを行い、微細なイオン伝導路の形成に成功した。特に,LiGe_2(PO_4)_3相成分を含むLi_2O-GeO_2-P_2O_5系ガラスでは、室温で3.8×10-4 S/mの伝導度が観察され、濃淡型のLi^+イオンセンサとして利用できる可能性が示唆された。
4)塩素化剤である塩化アンモニウムの遷移金属と希土類金属への塩素化能の違いを利用し、希土類系材料スクラップから温和な条件で希土成分類を選択的に回収すると共に金属鉄をそのまま回収するプロセスを開発した。また、回収された鉄金属は磁性材料として活用できることが明らかになった。
