Research Abstract

本研究課題では、タンパク質モータ、軸糸ダイニンについて単一分子計測やアンサンブル機能計測、電子顕微鏡やX線溶液散乱による構造解析など、その構造と機能に関する研究を統一的に実施、ダイニンの運動発生機構とその制御機構の解明を目指した。生理的溶液中では伸展した構造をとるダイニンは、軸糸内においてコンパクトな構造となり隣接するダイニン分子の間に構造的連関を生じることを明らかにした。これは、個々の機能がアンサンブルとして高い次元の機能へと組織化して統合された鞭毛波を作り出すための構造的基盤である。機能面では運動特性の大きく異なる2種類のダイニンの協調的運動特性を明らかにして、鞭毛軸糸内でのアンサンブル特性創発の機能的基礎の一端を明らかにした。
