Research Abstract

遺伝情報をコードするDNAは、細胞核内の染色体に収納され、セントロメアを制御拠点として子孫細胞に伝達される。本研究では、分裂酵母および高等真核細胞をモデル系にして、進化的に保存されたセントロメア核内機能と染色体分配における新規制御機構を分子的に明らかにした。これらセントロメア機能の制御破綻が、細胞がん化などの病態にどのように関わるかを探ることで、新たな治療戦略の考案に資することが期待できよう。
