Research Abstract |
The goal for this research is to release the database of ancient document bibliography named DOKB (Database of Old Korean Books existing in Japan) into the public domain via Internet for researchers who study the ancient Korean books in Korea and other countries. We proceeded with the plan to restructure this DOKB by Java programming framework, database management system PostgreSQL and character code Unicode to realize this internationalization goal. We carried out the following procedure and got the next results in these two years. 1.We cleaned up the bibliographic data of this database DOKB and converted all external character code from S-JIS to Unicode. After that about 97 percent of whole external character data were converted to Unicode character. 2.We rewrote 90% of whole code of script engine in main body of DB information retrieval system from PHP scripts to Java framework scripts. 3.User interface of I/O screen for this DOKB were created for user and for DB administrator. 4.DB server was changed from Windows 2000 server to Linux/Windows 2003 Server. 5.IME tools for input Kanji code were provided by Microsoft multi-language office software for simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean language. 6.And joint research partner Prof.Fujimoto published the booklet bibliography of Anthologies (Ji Part) of old Korean books existing in Japan. For supporting that publication, I assisted the classification of master data of bibliography, creating index, proofreading work, design of the CD edition reference system and its user manual. At present we are continuing the testing and debugging to complete this new database system DOKB.
