Research Abstract |
1. Analysis on intestinal immune system in obesity C57BL/6J mice fed with high-fat diet was emploied as diet-induced obese model. Effect of obesity on immune functions in case of oral tolerance induction was investigated. Ovalbumin (OVA), as a specific antigen, was intraperitoneally injected after oral torelance induction. The change of antigen-specific immmune reaction after oral tolerance induction was observed in obesity. Intesitinal immune functions may alter with obesity, modifying the pathophisiology of inflammation and allergy. 2. Effects of stress and obesity on immune functions The changes of immune function by stress loading and obesity were studied using diet-induced murine obese model. Restriction stress (12 hours x2) was loaded in the experimental period. OVA was immunized twice just after each stress loading. Titers of antigen-specific antibodies was lowest in obese group with stress loading. Leptin might influence to immune function in the group. Stress and obesity possibly effect on immune function, in which adipocytokine may play an important role. 3. Immune functions in protein-energy malnutrition with endotoxin shock Protein energy malnutrition (PEM) induced murine model was invesitgated to analyze the relationship PEM and endotoxin shock with infection. The difference of quantity and quality in dietary protein effect on host defence system, which imply the importance of diet in infection.
