| Research Abstract |
The following work was done at this research period. We took high accuracy images (color and monochrome) of Takanobon-Heikemonogatari with the digital camera and scanner, and input in text data that used Gt-Font (developed by Multi Laguage Processing Research Association in the University of Tokyo). It faithfully reproduces even the form of the Chinese character, and it is so useful for the research of philology.
Next, we had the image data cooperate with the text data on the computer system. If we retrieve any word of the text data, we can immediately see the image on the page where the word is recorded. As for us, the system can be able to do accurate researches, and it is possible to make the best use of the convenience of the computer only by the text. Actually, Yamaguchi researched the grammar of the Kamakura era Japanese language, and Yada researched the Japanese writing system (especially Furi-gana) by using this system. The result is published in the Report(C-18).
This system is insufficient in the point of the accuracy of the retrieval yet. We keep researching improving the accuracy of the system, and want to open it to the public in the near future.
