Research Abstract |
The Edo Shogunate managed directly in a central market of Edo and Osaka. And the Shogunate monopolized Nagasaki trade. It was not allowed for various feudal clans to participate in Nagasaki trade. Various feudal clans sold a special product and land tax rice in a central market and had to satisfy the annual revenue. In this way the Edo Shogunate got possible to control national economy. There was not the system which profited from an economic exchange between feudal clans. However, when the times pass, the local market which did not turn to a central market grew up. In North Japan society Hokkaido that is the Ezo place of the Edo era carried out a big role in an economic meaning. The beginning in the 18th century, the fishery of Hokkaido developed to make fish fertilizer charges. When it was the latter half of the 18th centur, fishery to take kombu and a dried abalone as an export of Nagasaki trade developed. n. A consumption market for a worker was born in this way because fishery of Hokkaido developed. In search of marine products of Hokkaido a lot of merchants of a staple gathered for buying from the Osaka area. They loaded a lot of articles onto a ship in Osaka and went north in the Sea of Japan. However, it was sold at the Sea of Japan coast before arriving at almost Hokkaido of the load. At a port in North Japan they purchased many of supplies which were necessary for industry and a worker of hokkaido. And they went to Hokkaido. People of North Japan came to ship the tools which were necessary for daily necessities and fishery in Hokkaido. The long-distance transportation ship from Osaka was the big ship which a sailor needed more than ten people. However, the ship which went to Hokkaido from North Japan was the small ship which around two or three sailors needed. This small ship supported industry of Hokkaido and life of a worker and brought marine products of Hokkaido product with the returning ship adversely.
