Research Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the economic education curriculum in secondary education.
The following researches were done in order to attain this purpose.
a. The present condition of the economic education in foreign countries (US. UK. Germany. Australia) was investigated.
b. The tendency of the economic education in those countries was examined.
c. The economical educational curriculum in Japan was discussed on the basis of research findings on economic education in those countries.
The results of our research are as follows.
1. The difference on economics contents in the text books between "Civics" in junior high school, and "Contemporary Society" "Politics and Economics" in senior high school is not clear in Japan.
2. Personal Financial education is thought as important in the United States. "Business Management" is becoming popular subject among students in England and Scotland. In Germany, Economic Education Center in Hamburg offers Career Education Program for young people. In Australia (Victoria State), economic contents are taught in SOSE (Studies of Society and Environment) at Primary School and Secondary College (year7-10).
3. Infusion Economics Curriculum must be considered in order to foster junior and senior high school students' economic literacy in Japan.
