Research Abstract

In order to improve the performance of absorption heat pump for the use of low temperature waste heat, a new enhancement method of water vapor absorption into LiBr/water solution was proposed. A copper plate is attached to the bottom of horizontal heat transfer tube. The plate enables additional vapor absorption when the absorbent liquid film flows down along the plate. The enhancement effect of the proposed method was investigated experimentally, and it was found that the absorption is enhanced by the plate in the region of relatively small liquid flow rate. In addition, the proposed method was applied to regenerator, and nearly the same performance was obtained as that of absorber. Based on the experimental data of absorption rate, the performance of two-stage absorption heat pump was analyzed, and the optimum operating condition was clarified.
