Research Abstract

The analysis method of indole-3-acetic using gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was confirmed and using this system the analysis of indole-3-acetic was performed. As to the metabolic rate of indole-3-acetic acid, younger fruits in cucumber was faster than older fruits.
To investigate the relationship between the flow of indole-3-acetic and physiology of tree vigor, the level of diffusible indole-3-acetic from water sprout (shoot) was determined using three cultivers of Japanese pear (Housui, Akizuki, Sinsui). In middle of June, the stage of end of branch elongation, the level of diffusible indole-3-acetic from water sprout of three cultivers was related to empirical knowledge. Thus, it was suggested that tree vigor could be evaluated by the determination of the level of diffusible indole-3-acetic in this stage.
To confirm the production sites of indole-3-acetic acid responsible for rapid elongation of the floral stalk of tulip, the diffusible indole-3-acetic acid from different plant organs was studied. During the period of rapid elongation of the floral stalk, the levels of diffusible indole-3-acetic acid exuded from different organs were internodes>floral organs>leaves. The amount of the indole-3-acetic acid diffused from the internodes and flowers differed and reached its peak at different time. The results obtained suggest that the top internode is probably the most important production site of indole-3-acetic acid accountable for the elongation of the flower stalk. Elongation of the 1-3internodes is probably also under the control of indole-3-acetic acid produced in themselves.
