Research Abstract |
1. System Detecting the Effect of Molecular-Targeting Therapy for Leukemia. We have established leukemia cells lines that proliferate autonomously producing granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) or granulocyte-macrophage-colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). Using these cell lines, we have examined the effects of antileukemic drugs and molecular-targeting drugs, imatinib and all-trans retinoic acid. 2. Study on the Effect of Notch-ligands on Leukemia Cells. Notch-ligands have been shown to activate the self-renewal of stem cells. We have studied on the effects of some Notch-ligands on the leukemia cells from established cell lines and the cell obtained from the freshly diagnosed patient. Notch-ligands showed various effect on leukemia cells. In some cases Notch-ligands have been shown to be involved in the leukemia growth. 3. Relationship between the in vitro Effect of Antileukemic Therapy on Leukemia Cells and the Patients Prognosis. After studying the effect on leukemia cells growth in vitro, we have followed the prognosis of the patients to determine the relationship between the in vitro effect and clinical effectiveness.
