Research Abstract |
Objectives : "Kinaesthetics" is a concept founded by Dr. Hatch and Ms. Lenny Maietta. The word, Kinaesthetics means 'movement' and 'sense' respectively. ' Kinaesthetics ' was introduced in 2001 in Japan. But many nurses don't know much about Kinaesthetics in Japan yet. Many patients have self-care deficiencies due to the lack of enough movements from various problems. Nurses are needed to give effective supports. The aim of this study is to make clear the different between Kinaesthetics mobilization care and usual mobilization care : Body Mechanics in Japan. Method : We focused on movement based on Kinaesthetics to clarify which points are different than usual methods : Body Mechanics used in Japan. We analyzed Kinaesthetics's movement using 3D Motion Analysis System. Results : Kinaesthetics comforted "as if patients can feel they move by themselves". Kinaesthetics promoted physical movement abilities, feeling and societal experience. It was clear that movement supports using Kinaesthetics made adaptive power and speed from both the patient's and nurse's sides. Because they move together. Kinaesthetics made natural cooperative movement using many exercise functions than usual method in Japan. Discussion : This suggests new mobilization care using Kinaesthetics is not just to transfer patient's body from lying position to other place but as a holistic healthy-promoting care in body, spirit and social experience. Our focus is based on mutual interaction based on non-verbal communication. By encouraging natural movements, a side of nurses and a side of patients are able to move more effectively and have greater ability.
