Research Abstract |
1.System Construction : The present nursing skill education system (hereinafter, referred to as the system) was designed to be maintained on a server, with web browser-accessible contents. The screen configuration consists of a video display, content selection frame, and electronic bulletin board. The electronic bulletin board is located on the video display screen so that users can ask questions to instructors while viewing videos. To improve the system, the content selection frames were modified into a tree format by considering learners' evaluation results. 2.Content Creation : For videos, each skill was divided into multiple contents by capturing and editing video in consideration of the learning effects and the download time. Contents were reviewed and improved by taking many photos taken from a nurse's perspective, including photos of the same action from several points of view, incorporating close-up photos, and inserting more detailed explanations. During this research, contents

for 10 titles were created. 3.System Evaluation : Learners evaluated the system's operability and video display. Their evaluations were high for the components of the contents, repetitive viewing, the on-demand characteristics, the effectiveness of system operability, and the attractiveness of the system. In contrast, their evaluations were low for the screen size and arrangement. Furthermore, learners indicated that the system is very convenient, has easy-to-understand contents including dynamic images and explanations, is effective for self-learning, and is reliable. The electronic bulletin board function was evaluated as the most convenient and effective learning system. However, this function was not fully utilized because learners hesitate to write questions on the board and have difficulties in selecting and expressing questions. Further research on user support is required. 4.Difficulties in learning and complementary education will be studied in "Evaluation of an e-Learning System for Supporting the Practical Training of New Nurses."
