| Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to develop an assessment standard of compound ability for diabetes patients and their families about a diabetes medical treatment action, and to establish evaluation methods.
We extracted standard items from reviewing literature documentations and foregoing researches and analyzed validity of items by considering results of questionary survey to diabetes patients. Subsequently we performed interview to patients and nurses who practiced diabetes education, and confirmed adequacy of these items. We got approval as ethical care in Kanazawa University medical ethics examination committee.
We made up a standard comprising 40 items which are compounded by two profiles, "an implementation of diabetes medical treatment action and assessment ability" and "a manner to live with diabetes mellitus and knowledge". It was confirmed that these items could assessment a diabetes medical treatment action by answers of 51 patients hospitalized for diabetes education and their values of HbA1c which is an index for diabetes control. Subsequently we declared 7 viewpoints which nurses get as effects resulting educational hospitalization and these are included in 40 items. In addition, we found 7 goals which nurses picture for diabetic patients hospitalized for educational purposes. Therefore we could decide possibility of these assessment items and confirm these usefulness as diabetes patients assessment tool on the first interview going into hospital.
