Research Abstract

本研究では、ナノ構造体変形の実験手法を世界に先駆けて開発し、原子スケール材料力学研究の分野を工学の1分野として開拓することを試みた.原子世界の変形を、その場で観て、操り、測る材料力学実験を展開し、ナノテクノロジー研究を指導的な立場で進める基礎を確立するように努めた.
昨年度までに、高分解能透過電子顕微鏡法を基盤として、ナノ構造体を機械的に、その場で観察しながら原子スケールで変形し、その際の力を光てこ方式で検出できる装置を製作し、これを用いて、実際にナノ構造体変形の実験を行った.本年度は、下記の研究を進めた.
(1)昨年度までは、常温において、金属、半導体、セラミックス等のナノ構造体を個別に変形させ、その原子過程を観察するとともに、応力-歪み曲線を同時に測定した.本年度は試料を冷却し130Kで同様の実験を行うように装置を改良し,これを実現させた.
(2)室温と冷却温度130Kで、応力-歪み曲線がどのように変化していくか、すなわち、強度と弾性率の温度依存性を調べた.特に、急激に変化するところの原子直視像を観察し、その起源を探った.
(3)電気伝導性を同時に測定し、力学的な性質との関係を明らかにした.
以上、構造、強度特性、およびそれを補間する形での電気伝導性の問の関係を明らかにした.また,実験系と同じ条件で、モデルをつくり、構造、強度特性、電気伝導、電子状態を計算し、実験と比較して、上記の特徴の起源を考察した.
