Research Abstract

森林流域あるいは森林生態系における物質循環研究において,溶存態の窒素,特にNO3-の窒素と酸素の安定同位体比を同時に測定する新たな分析手法を適用しつつ,サンプリングからデータ解析までの総合的な調査手法を確立することを目的とし,前年に引き続き,新しいNO3-の安定同位体比測定手法(脱窒菌法)ための,実験設備の整備,方法の改良,適用をおこなった.新しいNO3-の窒素・酸素安定同位体比の測定手法では,脱窒菌を用い,サンプル中のNO3-をすべて脱窒させてN2O(気体)にし,N2Oガスを質量分析計に導入して同位体比を測定する.本年度は,前年度に引き続き確立した手法を用いて,森林流域から採取した水試料のNO3-について,安定同位体分析を実施した.対象流域は,滋賀県南部に位置する桐生水文試験流域で,これまでに詳細な水文・水質モニタリングがなされている.林内雨,林外雨,土壌水,地下水,渓流水など数種類の水試料のNO3-の安定同位体比を測定したところ,大気からもたらされるNO3-の土壌層での存在比,それと,土壌中で生物学的に生成されたNO3-との混合,地下水帯での脱窒などの窒素ダイナミクスに関する重要な情報が,同位体比の変動から記述できることが示された.加えて,木本植物(カラマツ・ヒノキ)の植物体中のNO3-に関し,上記同位体比の分析を適用し,植物体中のNO3-が土壌で生成されたものであるか,大気降下物由来のものであるかを判別することを試みた.結果,カラマツでは,大気降下物由来のNO3-が葉から取り込まれている可能性が示唆された.
