Research Abstract

超新星爆発または中性子星の合体において、急速な元素合成(r過程)が進んだと考えられる。R過程の必要条件である中性子高密度状態に重大な影響を与える反応経路^8Li(α,n)^<11>Bのテスト実験および測定装置の開発を行う。
まず、本実験の要となる2層構造を特長とする極薄半導体検出器(1μm^t、500μm^t)の性能評価を行った。この半導体検出器は、大きな静電容量(2nF)を持つ。半導体サポート基盤、シールドケーブルの製作、シールドボックスの補強、回路調整によりノイズ対策を施した。α線源およびタンデム加速器を利用した低エネルギー原子核ビーム(^<11>B,^8Li)を利用し、粒子識別に関する性能評価を行った。その結果、我々の目標とする超低エネルギー原子核の測定に有効であることを確認できた[1]。
2005年4月、不安定核ビーム^8Liを生成させ、この極薄半導体検出器を利用した最初の原子核反応実験を実施した。^8Li(α,n)^<11>B反応における生成粒子(^<11>B)の直接測定を行うために、9台の極薄半導体検出器を^4Heガス標的中に配置した。さらに、ガス圧を100 Torrと低圧にし、超低エネルギー領域(Ecm=0.5MeV)に対応させた。実験の結果、これまで問題とされた低エネルギー生成粒子(^<11>B)を直接かつ容易に検出する事に成功した[2]。今後、高統計・高精度の実験を実現させるためには、極薄半導体検出器の弱点となる有効面積(40%)を改善する必要がある。新たに極薄半導体の開発を行い、有効面積率を90%に改善させ、立体角を4倍にすることに成功した。高検出効率のγ線検出器、中性子検出器の導入により、高精度実験を可能とする。
