Research Abstract

龍神沼、湯ノ川、丹生周辺の三つのCO2噴出地において環境測定、植生調査および生育植物の生理生態学的調査を行い、高二酸化炭素環境が葉の性質に影響していること、また、その影響が種によって異なることを報告した(Onoda et al. 2007)。
高二酸化炭素環境への適応を調べるため、現地の植物を東北大学実験圃場にあるオープントップチャンバーに移植し、植物の生理生態学的性質を調査した。小野田は龍神沼と湯ノ川からオオイタドリを、丹生からオオバコを移植し、光合成特性を比較した。その結果、湯ノ川から移植したオオイタドリの気孔コンダクタンスが対照区から移植した個体に比べ有意に低いこと、丹生のオオバコのデンプン蓄積濃度が低いことを見いだした。さらに大学院生中村伊都が個体成長について詳細な解析を行った。高二酸化炭素領域由来の個体はバイオマスを地上部に多く投資し個体重あたりの葉面積が大きいこと、好適栄養条件では成長速度が高いことなど多くの特性に違いがあることを発見した。
丹生のオオバコについては、東北大学生命科学研究科河田雅圭教授のグループの助けを得て遺伝学的解析に着手した。マイクロサテライトマーカーを用いた解析の結果、高二酸化炭素領域のオオバコと低二酸化炭素領域のオオバコの間では比較的遺伝的距離が離れていることを発見した。高二酸化炭素領域のオオバコはヘテロ接合度頻度が低く、繁殖様式が遺伝的分化に影響していることが示唆された。
これらの結果から、我々は丹生の高二酸化炭素領域のオオバコが通常領域のオオバコとは異なる遺伝的性質をもつこと、つまり何らかの進化が起こっていることを明らかにしたといえる。
