Research Abstract

1.太陽近傍の若い恒星に付随する太陽系外惑星の直接撮像探査
太陽近傍の若い恒星eps EriとVegaの周りに太陽系外惑星が存在するかを調べるため、すばる望遠鏡とコロナグラフ装置による直接検出を試みた。この観測は、世界で最も高感度の探査観測である。観測の結果、これらの恒星から数天文単位から数十天文単位には、木星質量の5倍以上の惑星は存在しないことが明らかになった。
2.連星系に付随する原始惑星系円盤の発見
恒星の半分は連星であるにもかかわらず、連星に付随する原始惑星系円盤の検出は数例しかない。我々はすばる望遠鏡のコロナグラフを用いて、若い連星であるUY Aurを観測した。そして、明るさが非常に不均一な原始惑星系円盤を発見した。特に最も明るい部分の形状は塊状で、この塊が収縮することで、将来惑星が誕生する可能性があることがわかった。
3.すばる望遠鏡を用いた太陽系外惑星の探査
すばる望遠鏡の主焦点カメラを用いて、太陽系外惑星が引き起こすトランジット現象の探査を行った。トランジット現象とは、系外惑星による恒星の食現象で、ごくわずかな量の減光を起こす。これは、長時間の測光モニター観測によって検出が可能である。非常に広視野の主焦点カメラを用いることにより、数千天体を1%以下の測光精度でモニター観測することができた。そして、太陽系外惑星が引き起こす可能性のあるトランジット現象を一例発見した。今後は、この天体に関してドップラーシフト観測などの追加観測が必要である。
