Research Abstract

本年度は、単一次元鎖磁石の磁化緩和現象の解明に向けたHF-EPR測定と、相関に関する磁気構造の視点からの解明を目指してMn(III)二量体の研究を行ってきた。まず、単一次元鎖磁石[Mn_2(saltmen)_2Ni(pao)_2(py)_2](ClO_4)_2のHF-EPRは、孤立系に見られない、温度変化によるシグナルの磁場移動が観測され、単一次元鎖磁石の磁化緩和が相関に密接に関わっていることを証明した。また、その解析により、1.5Kでの低温では、Glauberダイナミクスに関する磁化緩和でなく、磁区によるspin wave磁化緩和による可能性が示唆された。これは、高温部で相関長が有限鎖長よりも短いときにはGlauber機構が優勢で、低温部で相関長が有限鎖長に達し、磁壁による核化が起こると一次元磁区のspin wave機構が優勢になることを示している。このような機構の変換が真に起こっているかは、今後の詳細な検討が必要であるが、少なくとも、極低温部では、磁壁による核化は他の測定からも支持されている。
次に、上記の単一次元鎖磁石の相関の強さと磁化緩和の関係を調べるため、[Mn2(5-Rsaltmen)2(L)2](A)2の二量体化合物について、RとLの配位子の違い及び対イオンA^-の違いがMn…Mn間の磁気的相互作用にどのように影響するかを調べた。RとL及びA-の違いにより、21種類の二量体を系統的に合成し、構造と磁性を明らかにした。その結果、R=H,Clの時は、Mn…Mn間の強磁性的相互作用の大きさは架橋構造Mn-O*距離に比例するのに対し、R=Br,MeOはMn-O*距離の僅かな違いでも劇的に相互作用の大きさに敏感であることが明らかになった。
