Research Abstract

BB-5(3-Me)ポリエステルが形成するスメクチック液晶を回転型レオメータでずり流動させ、モノドメインサンプルを調製し、そのまま動的粘弾性測定を行った。高分子材料の粘弾性特性を詳細に検討するため、10^<-3>〜10Hzの周波数領域、0〜150℃の温度領域で動的粘弾性測定を行った。その結果、いずれの配向試料でも、温度-時間換算側によって液晶温度領域で単一のマスターカーブが作成できた。シフトファクターは顕著な異方性を示さなかった。いずれの温度・周波数領域でも、垂直配向試料よりも平行配向試料のほうが高い弾性率を示す。また、同一の温度で比較すると、スメクチックの等方化温度近傍で、弾性体-粘性体転移周波数が観測された。転移周波数は、垂直配向のほうが平行配向よりも高い傾向にあった。この動的粘弾性のデータを参照しながら、歪み30〜50%程度の動的ずりでスメクチック液晶を配向させ、その配向をX線回折で評価した。その結果、動的ずりではスメクチック液晶は配向しなかった。定常ずりを印加しながらの広角X線回折測定を行い、トルクと配向度との相関を調査した。トルクはずり印加直後の急増し、5分以内に急減するが、その時点で、1時間ずりを印加した場合と同等の配向度が達成されていることが分かった。また、小角X線散乱測定で、約80Åの長周期を捕捉することに成功したが、熱処理条件、ずり流動条件による長周期の顕著な変化は確認されなかった。
