Research Abstract

本研究は,超広帯域な変調サイドバンド列生成技術と,超高速波面制御技術を融合し,擬似速度整合型電気光学位相変調器において入射光ビーム断面内の位相変調指数の空間分布を制御することにより,サイドバンド列の強度分布が一様な超広帯域光コムを生成するデバイスを創出することを目的としていた.研究期間内で,入射光ビームの空間強度分布を考慮したうえで変調指数の空間分布をシミュレーションに基づき決定し,デバイスを試作し初期の動作を確認した.ここで得られた知見の主要なものは,"Generation of flat power-envelope terahertz-wide modulation sidebands from a continuous wave laser based on an external electrooptic phase modulator,"S.Hisatake, Y.Nakase, K.Shibuya, and T.Kobayashi, Opt.Lett.vol.30,No.7,pp.777-779(2005)にて公表している.
また,本研究においてサイドバンドのエンベロープ制御に関する新しい手法を模索している過程で,以下の特徴を有する新しい光周波数シフト法に関する知見を得た;(i)周波数変換量が変調周波数の整数倍となる,(ii)周波数変換量が電気的に制御可能(変調指数により制御可能)で,他の光源が不要,(iii)情報を保持したままでキャリア周波数の変換が可能.これに関する理論的知見は,"Electrooptic transparent frequency conversion of a continuous-lightwave based on multistage phase modulation,"S.Hisatake and T.Kobayashi,Opt.Lett.vol.31,No.4,pp.498-500(2006)にて公表している.
