Research Abstract

報告者は昨年度までに,流れ場と非球形粒子の自由運動の相互作用が支配的な場で,粒子運動の安定性について数値的に解析し,運動の軌跡などを,粒子の幾何学情報で整理する手法を提案した.本年度はこの知見に基づいて,複数の球形/非球形/可変形粒子が存在する流れ場における,粒子群の集団現象に取り組んだ.
まず,複数の球形粒子間に粒子間力が存在する場を考えるため,最も単純なモデルの一つとしてレナード・ジョーンズモデルを選んだ.この分子間力モデルはたった二種類のパラメータしか持たないが,様々なパラメータ値に固定して,規則的な初期配置の粒子集団(バルク体積率0.1%以下)を自由落下させた場合,解(集合体形状,流体抵抗および落下速度)の分岐現象が存在することを示した.この非線形現象は,粒子間力を伴う比較的少ない粒子集団(10以下)が特徴的に示す,流体力を介した粒子集団現象の素過程の一つと考えられる.
つづいて,もう少し規模の大きい粒子集団における非線形集団現象に,非球形性および可変形性が与える影響の解析を行なった.独自開発の複雑形状剛体の周りの流れの高速解法を発展させ,弾塑性物体を含む流れ場の解析を可能にした.複数(32〜128個)の可変形粒子が自由落下する流れ場において,乱れた流れ場を介した粒子運動の集団現象を取り扱った.初期の粒子形状として円形および楕円形を選び,固体のヤング率と流体の基準圧力の比E'を1〜100で変化させたところ,粒子は流体力を受けて,それぞれ特徴的な形に変形して落下する様子を捉えた.また円形と楕円では,平均流体抵抗は非球形性に支配的な影響を受け,可変形性が与える影響はわずかであると分かった.しかし粒子の落下速度は,楕円の方が(揺動を伴った運動のため)ばらつきが大きく,そのばらつきはE'の値が小さいほど大きい傾向を示した.特に初期にアスペクト比の大きい楕円の場合は,自身の慣性および流体から受ける回転に対する抵抗により回転が抑制される傾向があり,可変形の影響が最も顕著に現れた.
