Research Abstract

流体の磁気的性質に応じた磁化力のモデル方程式を導き,磁場および温度勾配が付与された密閉円筒容器内の常磁性・反磁性流体の熱および運動量の定量的把握を数値解析的に行った.この結果,重力場および無重力場下において常磁性・反磁性流体の熱流動を磁化力によって能動的に制御できることを示した.さらに,数値解析結果の検証実験も行った.
まず,常磁性および反磁性流体が満たされた密閉竪型円筒容器の底面を加熱,上面を冷却した系においては,磁場が印加されていない場合,密度の不均一によって生じる浮力対流,いわゆる自然対流が発生する.この自然対流に磁場を印加すると,常磁性および反磁性流体ともに,磁化力により自然対流を制御できることがわかった.具体的には,磁場の中心が底面の加熱面にあるとき,磁化力により常磁性流体の自然対流は促進されること,また,磁場の中心が上面の冷却面にあるとき,磁化力により常磁性流体の自然対流は抑制されることがわかった.一方,反磁性流体においては,常磁性流体と反対の傾向を示した.
一方,常磁性および反磁性流体が満たされた密閉竪型円筒容器の底面を冷却,上面を加熱した系においては,磁場が印加されていない場合,密度の不均一によって生じる浮力対流は生じず,流れのない熱伝導状態の安定温度成層を成す。しかしながら,この安定温度成層に強磁場を印加すると質量磁化率の不均一および磁場勾配によって磁化力に差が生じるため,重力に打ち勝って常磁性および反磁性流体ともに対流が誘起されることがわかった.これは,宇宙空間のように温度差を与えても密度の不均一性から生じる浮力対流が望めない場においても,強磁場を利用することにより熱対流を誘起させ熱伝達を制御できることを示すものである.
