Research Abstract

Cu-Zr-Ti金属ガラス合金にPd或いはAuを添加すると合金の過冷却液体の温度幅は大きく広がる。また、Cu-Zr-Ti-Pd金属ガラス合金は約2000MPaの高機械的強度及び比較的高いヤング係数を示す。
Ni-Nb-Ti-Pd,Ni-Nb-Ti-Zr-Pd及びNi-Nb-Ti-Zr-Pt合金で正20面体準結晶相は得られなかった。Cu-Mg-Y及びNi-Mg-Y合金は不十分なガラス形成能を示した。
加熱によってCu_<55>Zr_<30>Ti_<10>Pd_5合金に正20面体準結晶相が析出する。均質的な範囲は非常に限られた(<±5at.%)。この正20面体準結晶相は核形成及び3-D拡散制御成長を示す。母体ガラス相と析出させた正20面体準結晶相の組成は違う。Avrami指数値は約2.5になった。これは過冷却液体から正20面体準結晶相の核形成率をほぼ一定であることを示唆する。
Cu基正20面体準結晶クラスタの成長はこの成長による内部弾性応力の上昇から妨げられるかもしれない。Cu基正20面体準結晶相の配位層内遷移金属の再配置による結晶化が起こる。
Cu_<55>Zr_<40>Pd_5合金は過冷却液体から直接的に平衡の(Cu,Pd)_<10>Zr_7相を形成する。Cu-Zr-Ti-Pd正20面体準結晶相はCuリッチではない。Cu-Zr-Pd合金にTiを添加すると合金の結晶化挙動が変化する。TiはZrを置換して、正20面体準結晶相最初形成の合金の平均原子直径を変化させる。
準格子を充填するため、Cu基及びZr/Hf基正20面体準結晶相は異なった原子配分を持たなければならないが、この正20面体準結晶相形成の基準は準格子定数と平均原子直径の比率が一定値になることである。この比率は安定性の指針で使用することができる。Cu_<55>Zr_<40>Pd_5,Cu_<55>Zr_<20>Ti_<20>Pd_5,Cu_<45>Zr_<40>Ti_<10>Pd_5,Cu_<60>Zr_<25>Ti_<10>Pd_5及びCu_<65>Zr_<20>Ti_<10>Pd_5合金はこの基準からずれるので正20面体準結晶相は不安定になる。これらの相はMackay-type正20面体準結晶相ではなく、斜方形のtriacontahedraを構成するFrank-Kasper-phaseである。この構造は20面体対称である54原子クラスタから構成される。
