Outline of Annual Research Achievements

超大陸パンゲアの分裂後、世界の主要な大陸塊は一旦分散し、新たにアジアを中心とした次の超大陸が形成されつつある。その集積中心であるアジア中核部をなすシベリア、タリム、および北中国地塊に挟まれたモンゴルを中心とした中央アジア造山帯の地史の解明が重要であり、モンゴル国内には中央アジア造山帯の複数の主要構成要素が産する。しかし、これまでその形成史の詳細はほとんど解明されていなかった。その主原因は、正確な年代データの欠落にあった。本研究計画では、Zuva-Mongolia帯およびSuliyanka帯の野外地質調査を2018年春に実施し、採取した岩石試料について年代測定と地球化学的検討を進めた。とくに堆積岩、変成岩および火成岩に含まれるジルコンを大量に抽出し、多数のU-Pb年代を測定した。さらに全岩化学組成および各種同位体比の分析を行なった。その結果、これまで年代未詳であった上記2帯の複数の花崗岩体について、原生代中期から後期にあたる初めての正確なU-Pb放射性年代値が得られた。これrなおデータは、モンゴル内の多くの地塊が従来想定されてきた北方のシベリア大陸塊起源ではなく、別の大陸地塊(北中国やタリム、あるいはそれ以外)由来であることを示唆する。これによって、中央アジア造山帯の中核をなすモンゴル部分が持つ古アジア海中でのテクトニクス上の意義が明確になり、さらにその大規模海洋が閉じていった過程に大きな年代制限を加えた。これらの成果は、複数回の国際学会での口頭発表および国際的な学術誌に3編の英文論文として投稿された。
