Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During this period, Dr. Mohamed Kefi tried to focus on additional objectives of his work. In fact, the main objective of his research is to assess the direct and tangible damage by urban flooding in five (05) urban river watersheds in Asian megacities using multidisciplinary approach mainly based on spatial analysis. The results were presented in several conferences and workshops and papers were also published during last previous fiscal year FY2017. For this reason, another output was considered during period FY2018. Dr. Kefi tried to look on the relationship between flood damage assessment and people perception. For this context, Dr. Kefi worked on mathematic programming and statistical analysis. He used GAMS software and he emphasized on optimal situation of the use of the most relevant measure to reduce potential flood damage and consequently to get more benefit. The analysis is still preliminary step and some improvements should be done prior to be published and presented in conferences. Dr. Kefi have also focus on dissemination of his results related to flood damage in South-East Megacities. He gave a presentation about GIS-Based Approach to Evaluate Urban Flood Damages under the Impact of Climate and Land Use Changes: Case Studies from Southeast Asia at International conference held in Orlando in April, 2018. He also was invited to give a talk about his research activities during the New ARENA Kickoff Symposium in Tsukuba in August. He also worked on a research paper which will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal.
