Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we have identified objectives for writing education that organically link EGAP and ESAP, and developed a project-based learning system to achieve those objectives in collaboration with students. First, we administered a survey to teachers on EAP writing skills and knowledge that university students should acquire. Second, we conducted a series of analyses on syllabi, textbooks, and rubrics to identify the current situation of EAP writing education and the challenges in linking EGAP to ESAP. Finally, based on those results, we have developed and verified tasks used to create an autonomous learning system for students to systematically acquire necessary EAP writing skills and knowledge.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、大学におけるEAP教育充実のために効果的なライティング教育システムの構築を目指した。本研究の意義は以下の3点である。1)アカデミックライティング指導を可能にするPBLによる自律学習システムを構築した。2)アカデミックライティング教育の現状把握と課題整理を通して、EGAP と ESAPの連携に向けた提案を行った。3)教材開発において学習者との協働を取り入れることの有用性を実践的に検証し、今後のライティング指導方法の方向性を示した。
