| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Moral education, which has been implemented in Japan since the post-war period in compulsory education in a form different from that of a school subject, became a 'special subject - morality' from the 2018 academic year. Questionnaires were conducted in 2016 and 2021 to generate basic data for a comparative study of moral education before and after its subjectification. Moral education in other countries was also examined, which revealed that it is organised based on the political and social context of each country. Furthermore, the process of lesson planning by teachers in Japan was practically observed using action research methods to examine how much practical interest schools have taken in accepting the subjectification of morals.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
現在我が国は、エビデンスに基づく教育の改善・更新を推奨している。道徳の教科化についても、その効果や結果を検証するためにはデータが必要である。本研究はそのための基礎資料を作ることを目的とし、教科化前後の質問紙調査データ、我が国の道徳教育を相対化するための海外の実践の視察データ、現場における授業実践記録等、多面的な検証に利用できるデータを作成した。また、それらを用いた分析により、海外の道徳教育改革と日本の教科化という道徳教育改革の質の違いと、教育施策を児童生徒のための施策に作り直す我が国の学校現場の力に迫ることを試みた。
