Outline of Final Research Achievements

About 50 kinds of Indonesian plants were collected in Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. Five of them were selected based on their antiproliferative activity against human cancer cell lines. Isolation and the structure elucidations revealed approximately 80 of natural products including several novel ones with unique skeletons.

生物多様性に富むメガダイバース国であるインドネシアは固有種の宝庫であるが、創薬研究に附されたインドネシア自生植物は全体の僅か1％だと言われている。貴重な植物資源が急速に失われていく現状で、未解析の植物を化学的に精査し、天然物として化学的に保存した。本研究で得られた成果は、植物化学的な知見の充足と共に、がんや新型感染症等に対する将来の創薬研究に寄与する構造多様性化合物ライブラリーの拡充につながる。
