Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have evaluated detection capability of nuclear emulsion with submicron spatial resolution in order to investigate energy and spatial distributions for secondary neutrons induced by proton therapy. The Geant4 simulation was performed to optimize a detector construction, and test experiments were conducted to irradiate a water phantom with a therapeutic proton beam. Several experiments allowed us to detect clear recoil proton tracks in an emulsion film and reconstruct ten million tracks in the detector.
