Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this research, I conducted a study on marital rituals which was hardly progressing in the field of Japanese literature, taking in the results of historical studies. Firstly, I reviewed the outline of the marriage ceremony of Heian Period by examining the old records. Secondly, based on that, I considered the marital rituals depicted in Monogatari such as "Ochikubo Monogatari", "Utsuho Monogatari", "The Tale of Genji". Specifically, I analyzed the difference between historical fact and fiction and examined the fictional method of each story.
