Outline of Annual Research Achievements

銀河の集合体である銀河団は宇宙における最も重い構造であり、宇宙における構造形成史を色濃く反映している。銀河団の存在量や密度構造は暗黒物質や暗黒エネルギーを探る上で重要な観測対象と捉えられている。しかしながら、銀河団の質量の大部分は、光では観測できない暗黒物質で占められているため、光学的な観測は困難である。そこで、本研究では、重力レンズ効果と熱的スニャエフ・ゼルドビッチ (tSZ)効果という観測量を用いて銀河団の熱的性質や宇宙を記述するパラメータの制限を行った。重力レンズ効果とは、遠方にある銀河の像が前景にある重力場の影響を受け、その像が歪んで観測される現象を指す。隔てている物質の量が多いほど、観測される像の歪みは大きくなる。個々の銀河の像の歪みは極めて微小なものであるが、多数の銀河の像を統計的に解析することで、背景にある物質の空間分布を再構築することが可能である。一方、tSZ効果とは宇宙背景放射の光子が銀河団に存在する高温ガスを通過する間に、自由電子との逆Compton散乱によってエネルギーを獲得し、宇宙背景放射の温度にさらなる異方性が生じる効果である。前年度までの研究により、Canada-France-Hawaii望遠鏡とPlanck衛星の観測結果から、銀河団中の乱流由来の圧力の存在量に対し強い制限を付けることを可能にした。本年度はさらに高解像度の観測を可能にしたすばる望遠鏡の主焦点カメラHyper Suprime-Camのデータを利用し、さらに強い制限を得ることができた。本研究の結果から、乱流由来の圧力は先行研究と比較してより卓越していることが明らかになり、銀河団の質量推定に大きな影響を与えることを明確にした。
