Outline of Annual Research Achievements

宇宙再電離期の詳細な進化過程を探る上で、中性水素由来の21cm線は非常に有効な観測量である。再電離期からの21cm線が未検出であり、検出を妨げている銀河系や系外銀河由来の前景放射、観測装置の系統誤差を低減する手法を確立することが望まれている。そこで、前景放射を低減する解析方法として、21cm-CMB相互相関に着目した。その際、21cm線観測を目的とした電波望遠鏡であるMWAの観測データとPlanckのCMB温度分布を用いた。この研究で、21cm-CMB相互相関の観測のためには、観測誤差に寄与する銀河系の前景放射を差し引く必要があることがわかった。また、観測装置や電離層などの系統誤差の影響を調査し、現状の誤差に比べて電離層由来の系統誤差は無視できること、銀河系中心の寄与が非常に大きいことがわかった。
2018年初頭に、EDGES望遠鏡を用いて、再電離期より遠方の宇宙からの21cm線由来と思われる吸収線が報告された。これは、初代星の形成や進化を示唆する重要な発見であったが、検出された吸収線は標準的なモデルに比べて2-3倍強く、説明するためには特別な機構を仮定する必要がある。そこで、その吸収線の検証を目的として、MWAの低周波観測データの解析に着手した。特に、フーリエ空間での3点相関であるバイスペクトル解析を行った。この研究で、低周波の前景放射の非ガウス性が弱いこと、特定のフーリエ空間上に前景放射の影響の弱い領域があることがわかった。さらに、MWAの観測データを用いれば、今後より深い観測で理論モデルの検証が可能であることがわかった。
