Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は昨年度報告したラセミ体のヘリセンにアルキルアミド基を導入したRac-1の優れた強誘電性発現のメカニズムを考察する目的から、P体のヘリセンにテトラデシルアミドを導入した(P)-1、ラセミ体とP体のヘリセンにテトラデシルエステル基を導入したRac-2と(P)-2、ラセミ体のヘリセンにプロピルアミド基を導入したRac-3を新規に合成し、これらの構造を比較する事で、強誘電性発現のメカニズムを調査した。
4分子の相転移挙動を調べたところ、分子Rac-1, (P)-1, Rac-2, (P)-2の融点は、それぞれ424, 411, 336, 324 Kであり、アミド体の方がエステル体よりも約100 K融点が上昇していた。これは、アルキルアミド基間の分子間水素結合が有効に働き、新たな秩序を発生させた結果と考えられる。更に、POM観察から、Rac-1のみが330~420 Kの温度域で中間相を示し、この液晶相が2次元の水素結合ネットワークを介したバイレイヤー構造である事がPXRD測定から明らかになった。次に、P-E測定による強誘電性評価を行った所、Rac-1は強誘電体に特徴的なヒステリシスループを示したのに対し、残りの化合物は強誘電性を示さなかった。また、Rac-1の残留分極値は非常に大きく、アルキルアミド基置換ピレン誘導体で見られた残留分極値よりも約10倍大きな値であった。これは、Rac-1が①水素結合密度が高い、バイレイヤー構造を形成している②二次元水素結合ネットワークを構築しているため、全てのアミド基が協奏的に回転可能である③永久双極子をもつヘリセン部位自身が運動している事が原因であると考えられる。二次元水素結合ネットワークを有する有機強誘電体は、有機強誘電体メモリの創製に関して有利と考えられ、新たな可能性を開拓した。
