Outline of Annual Research Achievements

[1] 量子異常ホール状態のカイラルエッジ状態における非相反伝導
磁性トポロジカル絶縁体の量子異常ホール状態において、磁場・電流方向に依存した抵抗である非相反伝導の観測に成功した。非相反伝導の大きさはこれまで発見されている物質に比べて極めて大きく、電流方向に依存して30 %程度も抵抗が変化することが分かった。また、従来議論されていた非相反伝導とは異なり、電圧端子の位置によっても非相反伝導の符号が反転することが分かった。加えて、ゲート電圧依存性において、バルクのキャリアの符号に依存して非相反伝導の符号が反転することが明らかになった。これらの結果から、カイラルエッジ状態とバルクの電子との間での散乱がその起源であることが示唆される。詳細な起源については、現在理論的解析を進めている。
本研究課題全体を通して、これまでほぼ全くと言ってよいほど注目されていなかった量子物質におけるダイオード効果である非相反伝導の観測に成功してきた。特に本研究課題で発見した、磁性トポロジカル絶縁体の面内磁場下における非相反伝導、超伝導・トポロジカル絶縁体接合における非相反伝導並びに、量子異常ホール状態におけるカイラルエッジ伝導は、いずれも既存の物質系に比べて極めて巨大であり、またそれぞれ全く異なる機構で発現していることが明らかになった。これらの発見は今後の新たな機構による非相反伝導の発見並びに、さらなる巨大化への礎となると期待できる。
