Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Our purpose was to develop a differential-topology-based optimization planning system using multivariate image functions for high precision radiation therapy. We worked on three research projects. The first project was the development of a framework for monitoring of patient positioning errors in high precision radiation therapy by using Kinect-based range (distance) images. The second project was the development of a temporally stable image-features-based treatment planning-support system in radiation therapy, which can predict the prognosis of lung cancer patients using extensive image features robust against tumor motion. The third project was to explore optimal mother wavelets for survival prediction of lung cancer patients using wavelet decomposition-based radiomic features with high prognostic powers. These projects have been published in an international journal paper as an original article (Physica Medica, 2018; Impact Factor: 1.99), and 1 review paper has been published (Journal of Medical Imaging Technology (MIT)), and two original articles were submitted to two international journals (currently under review). The projects were presented in 3 international conferences (American Association of Physics in Medicine 2016 (Washington DC, USA) and 2017 (Denver, USA); The International Forum on Medical Imaging in Asia IFMIA2017 (Okinawa)) and 3 domestic conferences (Japan Society for Medical Physics (JSMP113, 2017; JSMP115, 2018 in Yokohama), and 36th Annual Meeting Annual meeting of Japanese Society of Medical Imaging Technology (JAMIT) in Gifu).
