Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は、はじめにプラスチック光ファイバ中(POF)のラマン散乱を用いた各種光ファイバデバイスを開発するにあたり、キーデバイスとなる大歪みの印加により超延伸したPOFを作製し、そのPOF中のブリルアン散乱の歪み依存性の解明を行った。POFの冶具を工夫することで、従来は60%しか印加できなかった歪みを約100%程度印加することに成功した。これにより、コア径を約2分の1にした。また、ブリルアン散乱光の周波数シフトの歪依存性が16.6 MHz/%となることを解明した。これは、超延伸を行う前の1/7.3倍である。次に、光ファイバデバイスの作製時に問題となる光ファイバの設置状態を定量化可能な高精細3D光スキャナの開発とその改良を行った。振幅変調と集光系を組み合わせることで空間分解20 umを達成した、さらに出射光に10GHzの高速偏波スクランブリングを施すことで、信号対雑音比が対象物表面の状態(微細な溝等)に依存しないことを実証した。最後に、光ファイバの非線形現象の新たな応用分野を開拓すべく、光ファイバ中のブリルアン散乱光を用いた楽器を提案した。傾斜利用型分布測定技術を適用した時に出力される波形を音に変換して出力することで、音程・音色・音圧を自在に変更することが可能であることを示した。これは、従来、電気信号の加工を諸原理とする従来のシンセサイザーを光信号の加工を諸原理とするものに昇華できることを意味し、人類の文化的進歩に貢献すると考えらえる。これらの情報は、POF中のラマン散乱光を活用するにあたり有意義である。
