Outline of Annual Research Achievements

（１）気象研究所大気大循環モデルの高層化・高解像度化を行い、成層圏界面上昇（ES）イベントの再現性向上を図った。改変を施した設定（水平20km格子、鉛直～300層）で、近年生起したESイベントを対象とした再現・比較実験（下層大気は拘束）を行なった結果、低解像度設定（水平110km格子、鉛直80層）の場合と比べて、成層圏界面の構造がより現実的になることが確かめられた。同時に、極夜ジェット軸上の重力波伝播や赤道域準二年振動に関係した基本場変動の再現性も向上することを確認した。
（２）成層圏以高の領域で卓越する不安定擾乱に関して、昨年度に作成した長期にわたる初期摂動を用いた統計調査を行なった。いくつかの成層圏突然昇温について、その生起直前の上部成層圏において（変曲した極渦の順圧不安定と考えられる）高い成長率を持った摂動が出現する場合があることを示した。また、2017年にシステム仕様に大きな変更のあった気象庁現業予報の初期摂動も調査し、同様の傾向が見られることを確認した。
（３）ESイベントに伴うオゾン破壊物質（主にNOx）の下方輸送が下層大気循環場へ与える影響の評価を、気象研究所地球システムモデルを用いて実施した。昨年度に構築した実験設定を洗練させ、最悪ケース（最大規模のESイベントが生起したタイミングで、最大規模の高エネルギー粒子降り込みが生じ、上空で大量のNOxが生成・輸送された状況）を想定し、その効果を取り入れるか否かによって生じる差異を、100メンバー程のアンサンブル感度実験を行うことによって調べた。結果、極域上部成層圏におけるオゾン破壊により、その場での低温偏差およびその直下での高温偏差が引き起こされ、成層圏中緯度帯において有意な東風偏差が生じることが確かめられた。また、この東風偏差はその後の波-平均流相互作用により増幅し、成層圏最終昇温のタイミングを早めうることを示した。
