Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本課題では,非平衡プラズマによる触媒反応促進メカニズムの解明を目的とし,環境・エネルギー分野で注目されるメタンのドライ改質に対してプラズマ触媒反応系を構築した。非平衡プラズマはDBDを,触媒はメタン改質に一般的なNi/Al2O3(多孔質球状,12 wt.%,平均粒径3 mm)を用いた。これまでにDBDにより触媒活性が著しく向上することを解明している。本年度はプラズマ触媒による触媒活性向上メカニズムを解明した。
CO2流中でプラズマ触媒もしくは熱反応により酸化した触媒を昇温還元すると,熱反応では酸化することが困難であったサイトがプラズマ触媒反応により著しく酸化されることが確認された。また,DBDとの相互作用が顕著なペレット最外殻にNiOが形成され,Al2O3の結晶性が向上した。熱反応により酸化したペレットでは中心部・最外殻ともにNiOは検出されず,Al2O3の結晶性は変化しなかった。本研究の比投入エネルギーは0.5 eV/molecであり,CO2の気相中での分解により生成されるO2の寄与は小さく,振動励起種等活性種が触媒反応を促進したと考えられる。Al2O3の結晶性が向上したことは,電荷再結合等のプラズマ特有の加熱機構が触媒反応に関与したことを示唆する。触媒反応におけるプラズマ加熱の影響は研究例が少なく,本結果はプラズマ触媒分野における重要な知見となる。
DBD中の活性種濃度は低いが,触媒粒子と反応することで触媒活性を向上させる。また,熱反応では反応に関与しないサイトが反応サイトとして活用される。さらに,熱反応では脱離していた吸着種がプラズマ加熱により触媒粒子と反応し,これも触媒活性の向上をもたらす。これらにより触媒活性が向上し,また活用される反応サイトが増加することで基底状態の分子も含めた反応が促進され,そのため弱電離プラズマであるDBDであっても顕著な反応促進が実現する。
