Outline of Annual Research Achievements

In this research, electron-deficient characters of cyclopenta-fused polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (CP-PAHs) have studied by lithium reduction. After Lithium reduction, radical anion and dianion crystals of benzene-fused tetracene were separated, which were confirmed by single crystal analysis. In addition radical anion of thiophene-fused tetracene was also separated in the same condition and analyzed by X-ray analysis. The study of electron accepting properties of CP-PAHs is of great important to investigate their potential application in the field of Li battery. The photopysical and electronic properties of these reduced species are in under investigation.
