Outline of Annual Research Achievements

二つの短音によって区切られた時間間隔の知覚的な長さと一つの持続音の知覚的な長さを比較すると、前者よりも後者の方が長く知覚される。これを充実時間錯覚と呼ぶ。運動する物体の提示時間は静止した物体の提示時間よりも長く知覚される。これを時間伸長錯覚と呼ぶ。本研究では、充実時間錯覚と時間伸長錯覚の関連性および、これら二つの時間に関わる錯覚現象がどのような条件において生じるかを調べた。両者を視覚において量的に比較すると同時に、充実時間錯覚については、聴覚において、視覚実験に用いた同様の方法を同一の時間間隔を用いて確かに錯覚が起きることを確認した。聴覚実験には、1000Hzの純音を刺激として用いた。加えて、基本周波数は一定であるが、短い時間窓を設定し、その時間窓ごとに周波数を割り振った聴覚刺激を作成し、時間知覚に影響を与えるかどうかを検討した。視覚実験には、灰色の背景上に提示したランダムドットを刺激として用いた。短音および持続音の代わりに、ランダムドットのフラッシュ（短時間提示）と静止ランダムドットを、運動する物体および静止した物体の代わりに、動的ランダムドットと静止ランダムドットを用い、知覚的時間長の現れ方を調べた。主に用いた時間間隔は150から900ミリ秒であり、調整法や再生法、マグニチュード推定法によって主観的時間長を測定した。聴覚実験の結果、視覚実験に用いたものと同じ時間間隔および手法を用いた場合、確かに充実時間錯覚が起きることが確かめられた。視覚実験の結果、充実時間錯覚および時間伸長錯覚が起きることが確かめられた。このとき、充実時間錯覚の錯覚量は一定であったが、時間伸長錯覚の錯覚量は刺激の時間間隔が長くなるにつれて増大することが示唆された。また、認知的運動を表す運動線等の付加的情報が時間知覚に影響する可能性を示す結果が得られた。
