Outline of Final Research Achievements

To investigate how lactobacillus suppress allergies, I hypothesized that lactobacillus affects macrophages, a type of white blood cells, and that lactobacillus enhances macrophages to intake and to degrade allergens.
I have found that Lactobacillus enhances the intake of foreign materials by cultured macrophages under microscopic examination.
Lactobacillus also enhances the gene expression of IL-12b which are secreted by macrophage to inform the invasion of foreign materials to T lymphocytes.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
