Outline of Final Research Achievements

Computer-assisted learning materials were developed for the students to experience oral management of elderly people requiring house call dentistry more practically. These were widely used by dental students, dental hygiene students, medical students and dental residents. Results of a questionnaire from the learners suggested that the learning system was effective not only for dental hygiene students but also for other health science professionals. Furthermore, we conducted training with the materials at the Dental Hygienist Professional Development Center of our university hospital. The results from these studies suggested that both the e-learning system itself and the materials were applicable to support the education of postgraduate dental hygienists and those planning to reinstate.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では、訪問歯科診療の現場で遭遇するケースを疑似体験でき、臨床判断を体験できる要介護高齢者の口腔管理(口腔ケア)に関連するシミュレーション教材を複数開発した。これらの教材を多くの学生等にeラーニングシステム上で活用して、開発した教育システムに対する評価を行ったところ、同システムが、歯科衛生学生のみならず、他の医療系学生教育にも有効であることが示唆された。また、卒後の歯科衛生士を対象とした復職支援の研修用教材としても活用できた。これらより、開発したeラーニング教育システムは、歯科衛生士の人材育成・資質向上に役立つことが期待でき、他職種を含む医療系教育の質の向上と発展に寄与するものと思われる。
