Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study analyzed the various possible influence of the penetration of photovoltaic power generation (PV) on urban land use based on urban economic theory. Based on statistical data of the municipalities in Japan, the actual influences of the penetration of photovoltaic power generation on urban land use, housing choice and transportation system have been investigated. It is made clear statistically that the urban residential areas have been expanding with the penetration of solar power generation. An urban land use/transport model has been constructed which takes into consideration the profitability of land use for photovoltaic power generation and the negative external impact of photovoltaic power generation on the living environment, and the associated optimization method have been developed.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、標準的な土地利用・交通モデルを拡張し、太陽光発電の収益性および太陽光発電の居住環境に対する負の影響が考慮できるモデルを構築し、最適化計算手法を開発した。
現時点では、太陽光発電の普及に伴い、都市の住宅地が拡大していることなどを統計的に明らかにしている。一方、土地利用・交通モデルによる計算では、太陽光発電の収益性の変化や居住環境に対する負の外部性の変化により、住宅地の縮小に寄与する可能性を示した。本研究は、エネルギーの課題と都市形態の課題を同時に対処するため、太陽光発電を土地利用として、都市・地域の土地利用計画において考慮する必要性を示し、そのための計算手法の構築に寄与した。
