Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To clarify the relationship between somatosensory system and autonomic nervous system (ANS), we evaluated the effects of non-invasive stimulation of the limbs on ANS in rats, and developed a device that can stimulate the rat limbs quantitatively. Non-invasive stimulation of the limbs was set “temperature” and “pressure”. We picked up renal sympathetic nerve activity (RSNA), gastric vagus nerve activity (GVNA) and sympathetic nerve activity (SNA) on the epididymal white adipose tissue (EWAT) in anesthetized rats. As a result, a magnitude of both RSNA and SNA on the EWAT during temperature stimulation decreased with the control level, and an increase in GVNA was obtained by the same stimulation. And then, we developed a quantitative stimulation device that can control the pressure loading on the rat limbs.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
