この研究は「視線(gaze)」に関する認知神経科学および発達心理学等の人間科学における実証的な研究成果を踏まえ、哲学的な視点からこれらの研究成果を検討することを目的とする。認知に関する実証的な知見を存在論的にとらえ直すことによって、実証性を備えた哲学的認識を作り出すとともに、認知的に人間を理解する際の視野を拡大することに貢献した。
