Outline of Final Research Achievements

We prepared digital text of original scripture with Sanskrit commentary. This will provide researchers with more useful material. In our study on this scripture we found that there are various ways of grouping atonement in Jainism.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

現在に生きる文化としてのジャイナ教の一面を出家者の戒律を研究することによって明らかにすることが出来た。今回の研究は文献的な側面が主であったが、従来は研究者の間でも関心を持たれていなかった『スターナーンガ経』が今後は広く研究される一助となると思われる。また同経がもつ百科辞典的な側面にも関心が集まる事を期待したい。可能であれば、日本語に翻訳した上で、解説を付して、一般社会にも情報が共有されるようにしたい。
