Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Namikawa Yasuyuki(1845-1927)from Kyoto was an internationally renowned Japanese cloisonn artist and manufacturing company.Imperial Craftsman (1896).“Namikawa Yasuyuki Shippo shiryo”Iinvestigated“Namikawa-ke Monjo,both in the collection of Namikawa Yasuyuki Cloisonne Museum.The“Shippo shiryo”complex is a designated National Registered Tangible Cultural Property,“Monjo”comprises written materials not included in“Shiryo”Investigation of the black glaze of Namikawa Cloisonne carried out in collaboration with Tokyo Gakugei University by non-invasive scientific research of original objects resulted in a thorough understanding of the black glaze up to the amount of chemicals used for individual objects’glaze. Comparing the data gained from scientific examination of Namikawa susuke (Tokyo) and Owari Cloisonne black glazes.A Japanese Shippo study entered the new stage by this study. I got the important viewpoint which inspects a Japanese Shippo Works.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
近代七宝は、美術史では殖産興業による輸出工芸、近代史では近代化策の機械制製作や大量生産品と目され、正当な評価を得られず、学術的な七宝研究への関心を遠ざけてきた。その理由として、海外の需要で輸出され、国内に七宝遺例が少なく、その技法が基本的には在来技法ではなく、幕末期の尾張にて開発した新興産業であったことも要因にあると考える。 七宝は19世紀の万国博覧会を通じて、日本の技術力や文化性を世界に知らしめる重要な役割を果たしたが、七宝研究はその実像をみる視点を欠いてきた。だが、本研究は七宝技法や製作環境に着眼した独自の視点があり、海外研究にも影響を与え、先端的で体系的な新たな七宝研究となった。
